Unity Sound was created at the end of 1997 by three reggae addicts. In 2000 two more selectors joined the team. The purpose of the sound is to bring all people together, no matter what their skin colour, race or religion, simply through the power of Jah music. Unity is the sound for one and all...

From the start, the crew decided to build his own speaker boxes to become an original sound system. After consulting some books and checking "Jah Tubby's" plans on the net Unity started his own boxes in 1999. At the same time the crew began to record dubplates and accumulate various technical apparatus (amplifiers, consoles, ..).

Unity's dub box is very deep and brings together topical and foundation artists from Jamaica, Europe and the USA. Just to name a few, when listening to Unity Sound you get specials from: Max Romeo, John Holt, Horace Andy, Justin Hinds, Vivian Jones, Bernard Collins, Linval Thompson, Mikey Dread, Leroy Smart, Shinehead, Luciano, Beres Hammond, Jah Cure, Capleton, Sizzla, Anthony B, Chuck Fender, Fantan Mojah, Turbulance, Bounty Killer, TOK, Wayne Marshall, Gentleman, Alborozie, Uman, Daddy Morry and many more. Unity is mostly known as a juggling sound but does also participate in musical clashes. In 2003 Unity became one of the most wanted sounds in the country by winning the 1st ever "Geneva Clash", eliminating 3 other sounds including Freebass Digital and New Generation. In 2004 Unity won the trophy of the "Geneva Clash" for the second time and get the 3rd place of the annual "Swiss Dancehall Clash" promoted by Gideon Productions. In 2005 for the second edition of "Swiss Dancehall Clash" Unity arrived second.

Unity plays with international sound systems aswell and already promoted hundreds of dancehall events in Geneva with sounds like : Freddie Kruger, Caveman, Massive B, Powpow Movement, Sentinel, Supersonic, Budadub, Jah Sound, Civalizee Foundation, Soul Stereo, Skill Battery, Fireball, Subionic, King FarI, Goldrush, Ruffpack, Black Phantom, Gideon Soldiers, Soldia, and more.

After years of good selections Unity is becoming more recognised, yet remains modest... "time will tell" "unity is strength" "strength is the power"

to be continued...
